What is it?
What are the benefits?
Why should I try it?
What plants should I use?
How do I do it?

Yoni steaming is known by many names--v-steam, vaginal steaming, bajos, and womb sauna to name just a few.  This Sacred Feminine Art is a deeply nourishing experience that supports you in reconnecting with your body,  healing your relationship with your sexuality, and reclaiming your Sovereignty as a Woman.

What is Yoni Steaming?

Yoni steaming is the practice of simmering specifically chosen herbs in a pot of water, placing the steaming herbs under a steam stool, and then sitting on the steam stool to allow the healing properties of the plants to penetrate the physical tissues and energetic spaces of your Yoni.

(If you don’t have a steam stool you can simply kneel over the bowl of steaming herbs, but I do recommend a steam stool in order to allow yourself to fully relax into the experience).

What is a nourishing blend to begin with?

A combination of organic, dried herbs:

Rosebuds & petals ¼ cup
Calendula flowers ¼ cup
Chamomile flowers ¼ cup
Nettle leaves ¼ cup

How to practice Yoni Steaming:

  1. Set up a sacred space, allowing yourself spaciousness and privacy. You can have music, candles, flowers, let yourself play as you create a space that feels sacred, soft, and nourishing to you.

  2. Bring 3-4 quarts of water to a boil, add 1 cup of your chosen herbs, cover and reduce heat to a simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove the lid, stir the herbs, and offer your prayers and intentions to the water and to the plants.

  3. Turn the heat off, cover with a lid, and allow the herbs to infuse for another 5 minutes.

  4. Pour your herbal infusion into a large glass or metal (not plastic) bowl and place the bowl on a towel under your steaming stool. If you do not have a steam stool you can kneel over the bowl, or you can clean your toilet thoroughly and place the bowl inside the toilet with the rim of the bowl resting on the rim of the toilet, and putting the seat down to sit upon.

  5. Test the temperature of the steam on your inner wrist before sitting above the steam. If it is too hot, simply allow it to cool for a few minutes and test again.

  6. Once the temperature feels good and you have your space all set up, undress from the waist down and sit on your stool. Wrap yourself in a blanket to keep all of the steam enclosed, and to keep your body warm and feeling nourished and nurtured.

  7. You can meditate, sing, say prayers, cry, laugh, or simply sit and be present with each moment.

  8. After 20-30 minutes you can complete your steam by lying down in your bed and resting, making sure to keep your body warm.

  9. Offer the herbs and water back to the Earth with gratitude for the healing energy and support of the plants and the water.
